English Education (BSE)

Next generation literature

When you finish reading a book, the characters and their stories never fully leave you. The power and versatility of stories can captivate your emotions, let you escape into an alternate reality, or relate to a character on a personal level. With a degree in English Education, you can share your love of reading with students.

Take classes that cover education fundamentals. Read and analyze literature from Emerson, Austen, Twain, and more. Design lesson plans and present microlessons. Sharpen writing and public speaking skills. Study different genres including epics, satires, and prose.

Integrate technology into your classroom and teach computer classes at the middle and high school levels. Complete a K–12 educational technology endorsement in addition to your teacher certification. Embark on a year-long student teaching residency, which will give you pedagogy and classroom management skills to last a lifetime.
